What information we collect
We do not collect personal information unless you provide it to us directly (for example, by email). To operate and improve the site, we use:
- Analytics – anonymized traffic measurement (e.g., page views, device type).
- Affiliate cookies – when you click through to a provider, an affiliate network may log the click so we can earn a commission. This never affects our ratings.
Legal basis & purpose
Analytics data is processed based on our legitimate interest in operating the site. Marketing and affiliate cookies are set only with your consent, given through the cookie banner. The purpose is to improve our content, measure traffic, and fund this free comparison service.
Third parties
We share data with the analytics and affiliate networks we use. If you click an affiliate link, that provider's and network's own privacy policy applies.
Your rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to know what personal information we hold, request its deletion or correction, and opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights, or reach out to your state's consumer protection office for more information.
Comments
If you write a comment under an article, we store the name and the text you enter yourself, plus the date. Name and text are shown publicly on the page. We do not store your IP address alongside the comment.
- Abuse protection – we store an identifier derived from your IP address and the article you are writing on. It is used solely to keep 60 seconds between two comments from the same reader and to prevent double voting. We cannot recover your IP address from it, but because it is derived from one we treat it as personal data.
- Retention – a comment stays up until you ask us to remove it. We keep up to 200 comments per article; beyond that the oldest drop off.
- Legal basis – our legitimate interest in running a comment function, together with the information you choose to submit.
If you want a comment removed, write to mads@mealboxguide.com and we will delete it.
